Boiler Optimiser Trial

For the last five months we have been conducting a trial using the latest software in one of our optimisers with a Ubibot WS-1 device to provide independent measurement of the internal and external temperatures and a Smart Gas Meter from Octopus energy to measure gas consumption every 30 minutes.

Octopus Energy supply an API which customers can use to download the records of gas consumption and the trial involves automatically switching the optimiser in and out of circuit on alternate days, this has produced a set of data that provides direct comparison of gas consumption on a day by day basis allowing us to get a real time value of the savings possible using the optimiser which is showing real savings can be achieved over the heating season.

Data is stored on our server to allow analysis of results over several months providing daily analysis of the savings and verification of our internal calculations of savings based on burn time.

Direct comparison of the results from the DAY ON / DAY OFF recording gas consumption and then comparing to get the savings validate the results of the 1 in 20 testing that the optimiser carries out whilst in operation, the values obtained from the optimiser compare within a fraction of a % with the results of the gas consumption figures over the same period of time. We can confidently state a saving of around 10% of total gas consumption since July 2019 with figures as high as 15% during the summer months.

The protocol for the trial and the results have been ratified by an independant expert in the energy field.
